 GEORGE FLOYD CASE

On May 25, Minneapolis police officers arrested a 46-year-old black man named George Floyd, after a convenience store employee called 911 and told the police that Mr. Floyd had bought cigarettes with a counterfeit $20 bill. Seventeen minutes after the first squad car arrived at the scene, Mr. Floyd was unconscious and pinned beneath three police officers, with no signs of life. By combining videos from bystanders and security cameras, reviewing official documents and consulting experts, finally we all came to know that the officer was seen most clearly in witness videos pinning Mr. Floyd to the ground. Mr. Chauvin, who is white, kept his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck for at least eight minutes and 15 seconds, according to a Times analysis of time stamped video. Our video investigation shows that Mr. Chauvin did not remove his knee even after Mr. Floyd lost consciousness and for a full minute and 20 seconds after paramedics arrived at the scene. On June 3, Hennepin County prosecutors added a more serious second-degree murder charge against Mr. Chauvin and also charged each of the three other former officers.

GRETA THUNBERG CASE

The Delhi Police have filed an FIR against the creators of the toolkit, that Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg shared on the ongoing farmers' protest in the outskirts of Delhi, on Thursday. The FIR has been filed under sections 120-B and 153-A of the Indian Penal Code for mobilising global protests against India’s controversial farm laws, for allegedly participating in a criminal conspiracy and promoting enmity for her tweets on the farmers’ protest in India, in a move that is likely to be criticised as overreach. The Swedish teen climate activist shared an updated toolkit to help people show support for the ongoing farmers' protest on Delhi's borders. Thunberg, who has been nominated for this year's Nobel Peace Prize, had shared a toolkit on February 3, but she later deleted it. The toolkit shared by Thunberg created an uproar on social media. The toolkit which was shared by Thunberg had information on showing support on Republic Day, which was on January 26. Later, she deleted the outdated post and shared an updated one.

MY OPINION 

In the above two cases, the one common factor that I notice is the Police Misconduct and the fact that people can't raise their voices, even though they are in a need to justify them or speak in support of their opinions. In the case of George Floyd, he is not even allowed to justify himself and also the Police tyranny, which led to his death. On the other hand, Greta Thunberg voiced her own opinion and point of view in a social platform, supporting who she wants to. She didn't even cause a riot or any damage to any particular person. But she was filed with an FIR by the Delhi Police. Again what I see in this case of Greta Thunberg is Police Misconduct by not even allowing people to voice out their own opinions. All I see in both these cases are People can't speak out and Police Tyranny.
